Radio Thoughts

I heard an old Peter Gabriel
song last night
it caught me
completely
off
guard

I was tired
in a reflective mood
driving
while
doing highway
meditation

I found
myself crying
turning up the radio
Long let go feelings
coming back in full force

Suddenly
I was mourning
the fact
I had to re-mourn
the passing
of us
Those moments of
never-when
came stinging
to my eyes

Contrary to the laws of physics
I transported myself
back
through time
and space

To that place
where
I
had to
walk
away
A place
where you
could not
follow

I had to
close the gates
of heaven
As I once had
closed my heart
to your
face
